haha i have been bowling for 11 months now! And its true the higher u raise, the more powerful ur ball gets, both in ball speed and revs. The faster u throw it, the more force exerted on by the fingers and the palm, resulting in more revs and ball speed. I throw the ball at abt 16-17 mph for my strike ball and 18-19 for my spares... I'm not too sure about my rev rate but i do know that it revolves 17 times before hitting the pocket... xD

well jones' back swing i think helps put revs as well as speed on the ball because the momentum the ball is coming down at and then your follow through is faster too and i have found that it has put so many more revs on my shots. so i play around the same line as i play 11 mph when bowling 14 mph - im 14 and weak so i dont get a high ball speed

the only bad thing about having alot of revs is that if u miss ur mark...some times u will be scrwed

you dont throw it hard enough to get more rpm ands its almost impossible to get that much rpm at 15mph, these guys get so much on it because they are averaging 18,19,20 mph

it really depends on the lane condition too, on a dry shot, the person who gets the ball longer down the lane is going to have a better chance of throwing a good game. a person with long arms, such as walter ray williams jr., will get the ball longer than a bowlier with shorter arms, such as norm duke. This difference could mean the difference between a flush shot and a 4 pin.
