Alright I think I will take your second option there and go into the military right out of high school and take it in 2015. I actally want to go into the Air Force as a Fire Protection Apprentice (aka Firefighter). And while im in the Air Force im going to take advantage of the free education and get my Fire Science Degree. Also am taking my EMT next year as a senior! I figure between all these things, I stand a really good chance of gettting on the FDNY. Whats Honary Discharge? Thanks!

yes you can take the test at 17 but then you wait around 1 year to get your list actaviated once that happens no matter what age as long as you passed the test you could enter probie school but you have to be 21 to be hired by the FDNY and get into a company For you join the military asap get a honary discharge they take the next avaiable test in 2015

So you CAN take the test at 17? But then you have to wait 4 years until you turn 21 to go to the Academy and eventually join the FDNY right? I know you have to be 21 to join the FDNY. So if this is true I will take the test in 2011, and go into the military for 4 years until I turn 21. Or I could just go in the military for 4 years and then once I get out take the test in 2015. Is there an email/number, I can call to talk to and get info from?

the test is every 4 years the next test is 2011 then the test after that would be 2015 so you would have to wait 8 years and as a side note you have to be between the ages of 17 to 29
